Personal Information
Born on the 27th of July, 1965 in Benin City, Edo State,
*Honourable Deacon Newman Oghomwen Ugiagbe hails from
Okogbo Community in Ukpato Ward, Orhionmwon Local
Government Area of Edo State.
He attended St. Michael Primary School, Okogbo and he
proceeded to Mixed Secondary School, Okogbo and later
attended Holy Mary Comprehensive College, Benin City.
He obtained a diploma degree in Risk Management from The
Professional Training Services, United Kingdom. He also
obtained a Higher Diploma in Strategic Leadership and
Public Administration from The London College for
Technical and Vocational Education. He is a graduate of
Public Administration from the prestigious University of
Benin.
Honourable Newman Oghomwen Ugiagbe is a creative,
resourceful, result oriented person. He has constantly
pushed the boundaries and exceeded professional targets
in different positions he has occupied over the years.
He started his professional work experience as a
supervisor in 1989 at Emma Builders Nigeria Limited, and
later formed his company (Newman Ugiagbe & Company) in
1992. A company into general contracting and supplies.
He later joined I-Shipping and Cargo Company, UK as a
Cargo Manager. In 2005, He succesfully transited into
the hospitality business by forming the prestigious De
Marriot Hotel, a first class hotel in the city of Benin.
His experience over the years and his consistent
involvement in the growth of his people has helped in
the development of his community and Orhionmwon at
large.
He held His first office as Vice Chairman of Orhionwon
Local Government Council from 2007 to 2009 and later
became the acting Chairman from 2009 to 2010. He served
as the Special Adviser to Governor Adams Oshiomhole on
Oil and Gas from 2013 to 2016 and later became the
Special Adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Community
Development from 2018 to 2020 where he initatied
different projects, managed & supervised the operations
of the Ward Development Committee (WDC) of the 192 Wards
in the state.
He also served as the liason officer of Orhionmwon Local
Government council to Godwin Obaseki in 2023.
He is presently the Executive Chairman of Orhionmwon
Local Government Council, tasked with the day to day
runnning and total development of the local government.
He is a recipient of several awards, both local and
international and has been happily married for over
twenty years to Mrs Tina Edamwen Ugiagbe, and blessed
with a lovely child.
